This month our students will be learning all about Sun Awareness, National Sun Awareness Week is designed to highlight the dangers of over-exposure to the sun and promote safe behaviour.
Eight out of ten people are failing to adequately apply sunscreen before going out in the sun, according to a survey carried out by the British Association of Dermatologists to mark Sun Awareness Week.
The poll found that 80 per cent of us don’t apply sunscreen before going out in the sun and then shortly afterwards. This is the approach recommended for three key reasons of which the public should be aware: to make sure that the product is fully absorbed before skin is exposed to sun, to help reduce the chances of areas of skin being missed, and to ensure a thick enough layer is applied.
The survey also found that 70 per cent of people fail to reapply sunscreen every two hours as recommended. We wanted to make sure our students knew the dangers of sun damage so they are safe in the summer season.
Who’s looking forward to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend?

Red Nose Day is back on the 24th March. See how we got involved to have fun, change lives and really make our laughs matter.
Since its launch in 1988, Red Nose Day has become something of a British institution. It’s the day, every two years, when people across the land can get together and do something funny for money at home, school and work.
There’s a fantastic night of TV on the BBC, with comedy and entertainment to inspire the nation to give generously.
